Bowling night by Noémi Kovács

We met at 19.30 at the Sea Front to go to Margate to Bugsy’s bowling centre. When we arrived we created 4 groups which included 5 or 6 members. It was such a good programme to create a nice atmosphere and  the teammates helped each other with love. In the end Mr. Módos won the game. Unfortunately, we could play only one break, but it wasn’t  a big problem because there were lots of other opportunities, for example table football and billiard. We spent there an enjoyable time. I hope we will go there again.

Quiz night by Dóra Trombitás

Our activity on Friday was a general knowledge quiz. We gathered in the school and after forming groups of 4, we started the fun quiz competition led by Stephen. The questions varied from history to today’s top music hits and movies. The atmosphere was very heated because everyone wanted to win and we shared some good laughs. In the end we also celebrated Tomi’s birthday with some cake and balloons.

Student presentations

We participated in a special language course on the first week. Our teachers Steve and Eamon taught us a lot of new things. One of our tasks was to do a survey about all sorts of topics (reading habits, films, spending money, speaking foreign languages, alcohol consumption). We interviewed a dozen people on the streets of Broadstairs and on the last day we had to present our findings in a presentation and create visuals of graphs, charts, tables. This way we could practice market research and could experience the excitement of presenting resaults to a larger number of people. The presentation went nicely our teachers were satisfied with our performance. Video links:

Kick ass by Sándor Bence Puskás

Tonight we watched a film titled "Kick ass" which was a production by Marv and British Scientist. It was an ultra realistic superhero movie where the bazooka could be held as a gatling gun. It was a "Murican" production so it included a gatling jetpack, bullet storm, knives, rough language and slaughter. It was the parody of every American hero movie. You probably know the loser guy whose life sucks and all the girls avoid him, until he becomes a superhero and every girl would like to... well become his girlfriend. We are looking forward to kick ass 2 and 3 :)

Visiting Canterbury  by Dorina Kovácsi

On wednesday we visited the beautiful town of Canterbury, where our teachers showed us the famous sites, for example a house that Elisabeth I often visited. We had the opportunity to go in the Cathedral which was breathtaking. It was huge and the windows were so beautiful. We went into smaller rooms where we always found something interesting. We saw the tomb of Saint Thomas and then we left the cathedral by passing through the beautiful cloister once used by monks, that looked like a scene from Harry Potter.
Canterbury is a town that everyone should visit, we could spend a wonderful afternoon here.

The Palace Cinema: The Martian

Yesterday we got our timetable for the week and what a good start: the evening program was watching movie in the Palace Cinema. When we reached our destination with Alexa we went inside a small and cute screening (sleeping) room. We watched a film titled the Martian. The story was basically about an astronaut who was researching Planet Mars with a NASA mission. But suddenly a huge tempest almost took them off their feet. Except for Mark everyone escaped and they left him on this deserted place because they thought their friend was dead. Our main character had to take care of himself for seven months because he lost contact with NASA.
In my opinion the story was a bit slow, however it can represent social support. On the other hand Mark had a good sense of humour which was in great contrast with his dire situation and it helped to survive this impossible situation. It was also funny to see that the control centre of both the American and the Chinese space program can be found in Budapest.
All in all it was a good evening and there are several more exciting program waiting for us.

Fitzwilliam Museum by Dániel Koma

Yesterday was our first day here in Broadstairs. Our plane arrived to Luton Airport at approximately 7:30 a.m. local time. Travelling was not over for that day, a bus picked us up and we kept on going. Our destination was Cambridge which is arguably the most prestigious university in the UK. In Cambridge there is a museum called Fitzwilliam Museum. It was named after an aristocrat who lived in the 19th century. In his last will lord Fitzwilliam donated his collected treasures and a whole lot of money to this museum. Fitzwilliam Museum caters for every taste of art fans. You can find basically anything from ancient Egypt up to modern arts. It was nice experience and a nice day to kick off our trip in general.
